Dayan Kai

Keys, Strings, Winds & Skins; a true Multi-Instrumentalist Virtuoso with an outstanding voice to match.


Born without sight but not without soul. Formally trained since the age of 2, Dayan is a Singer-Songwriter, Arranger and Producer with a lifelong commitment to music. Kai is also a stunning accompanist working with numerous notable artists from around the world in many styles and traditions. 

Currently, Dayan is working with long-time friend and collaborator Singer-Songwriter Keith Greeninger on an ESE Acoustic Duet Record with Award-Winning Producer and Engineer, Cookie Marenco. Since moving to Eastern Washington in 05, Dayan has begun to work with some notable local Bands in The Spokane area. Including:

*Hot Club of Spokane, a Gyspy-Jazz, Swing and Jump-Blues dance band

*6 Foot Swing the Inlander's Voted "Spokane's Favorite Band" 2 years in a row 

*Right Means Left duck music 

Dayan has played at many notable Festivals, such as Sister's Folk Festival, American River, Art on the Green, Sandpoint Music Festival, Summerfest, Bumbershoot Festival and The High Sierra Festival.  

Discography: Dayan has released five solo albums, "Treat A Stranger Right," "Livin' Like A Rat Again," "The First Twelve Years," "All Kai," "Songs of Sunday" and as well as two albums with his former band Water, "Scrape the Sun" and "Look out the Window"all self produced. He has also contributed his talents on a multitude of of albums in the folk, jazz & world genres.

His diverse studies have included training with renowned World Music Composer Lou Harrison, Latin Percussionist Michael Strunk, Jazz Trumpeter/Arranger Ray Brown and Mandolin Master David Grisman. 

Steve Uccello - Upright and Electric Bass

Steve Uccello is an Upright and Electric Bassist, multi-instrumentalist and composer. He's a versatile musician who authentically approaches each style he plays. Steve has self-produced two solo albums, the recently released SYMMETRIA, an instrumental bass-centric journey comprised of 14 songs, and the 2006 release, Polar Vision, a vocal-psychedelic-folk-rock album. Studying under the world-renowned bassists Stan Poplin and Ray Drummond, Steve was the first Jazz Studies graduate from CSU Monterey Bay in 2005. Steve plays regularly with The Monterey Bay Jazz Orchestra, with whom he was a featured soloist at this year’s 52nd Monterey Jazz Festival. Steve Uccello has shared the stage with artists such as Steve Lawson and Joe Craven. Uccello was a featured guest at the 2009 Mandolin Symposium, working closely and playing with David Grisman and Mike Marshall. He has toured and/or recorded with the unique singer/multi-instrumentalist Dayan Kai, Kerrville & Telluride winner Keith Greeninger, singer/environmental activist David Grimes, Jazz composer Kirk Danielson, Spanish Nuevo Cancion artist Juan L. Sanchez, and Italy based Gospel artist Nehemiah Brown. In October, Steve will be playing solo at the Y2K Loopfest in Santa Cruz, California.
